The Golden Flandrien

The ultimate cycling marathon on 13th of May 2012.

Sunday the 13th of May, we organize the 6th edition of the Golden Flandrien. The Golden Flandrien is a 250 km cycling trip with 25 slopes and 25 km of cobbled roads... It is even harder than the real Tour of Flanders!
The track of this very difficult cycling marathon is entirely in the Flemish Ardennes and uses the three loops of the most important Tour of Flanders slopes and cobbled roads.
 
Be prepared! Not all of the participants of the previous editions finished. Four feed zones and technical assistance will help the participants to finish this trial.
 
There are however two shorter tracks for those who are still doubting. Together with the Golden Flandrien, we organize the Silver and the Bronze Flandrien.

How it was in 2011...

Op zondag 15 mei 2011 startten 150 deelnemers voor hun monstermarathon over de volledige afstand van 250km. Dit over zowat alle bekende en minder bekende Ronde-hellingen, inclusief 25km kasseien... Enkel de 116 renners die de volledige afstand uitreden verkregen de eer om met het exclusieve Gouden Flandrien-shirt te mogen rondrijden.

De eerste deed er slechts 8uur over, de laatste deed het in 14uur en 55minuten. Niettemin hebben ze allen een prachtprestatie geleverd door deze heldhaftige rit uit te rijden. Onder hen waren ook een aantal 60-plussers (Schoutteet Roger is met zijn 74 lentes de oudste deelnemer) en een dame. Eervolle vermelding gaat naar Eddy Decroix en Theo Nevens, die beiden de Gouden Flandrien voor de 5e keer uitreden! Proficiat aan allen!

Voor de statistieken: 34 deelnemers hielden het onderweg voor bekeken. Er startten nog een 130-tal deelnemers op de Zilveren (150km) en Bronzen Flandrien (72km). in 2009 waren er 111 'Gouden' finishers, in 2010 133.
