The names of the winners of the Ronde of Flanders since 1973 are engraved on the metal foot of the statue. 1973 was the year in which the participants of the Ronde of Flanders rode on the cobblestones in the Paddestraat for the first time. Eddy Plackaert won the Ronde of Flanders in 1988 but his name is not engraved on the statue. This is because the Paddestraat was not part of the track because of renovation works in 1988. The circle symbolizes the Ronde of Flanders and the wheels and the cobblestone symbolizes the Paddestraat.
