Cycling legend Eddy Merckx celebrated his last victory in Ruien (Kluisbergen) on 17 September 1977. The place where ‘The Cannibal’ celebrated his last victory is now the start of the Eddy Merckx route. This route includes some of the slopes of the Tour of Flanders e.g. the Oude Kwaremont, the Patersberg, the Kluisberg and the Hotond. Every experienced amateur can make this challenging route if he doesn’t overestimate his cycling talent.
